Linkai has officially introduced its Walking Tractor Winch, a machine specifically designed for power line construction operations including tower erection, stringing, tensioning, traction, lifting, and material transport. Developed as a comprehensive upgrade to the model 12 hand‑operated walking tractor, the winch is available in two variants, 12‑A and 12‑B, with a rated pulling capacity of 6 tonnes, combining field convenience with high operational efficiency.

Walking Tractor Winch

Upgraded Chassis and Powertrain

The winch retains the original model 12 walking tractor’s chassis while undergoing a complete redesign of its gearbox. A three‑stage gear reduction system and a gravity‑operated braking mechanism have been integrated into the gearbox housing to ensure safety and controllability during pulling operations. Half‑axles extend from the front of the gearbox to both sides to drive the tyres, while the winch drum shaft is lengthened to rotate the drum for wire rope payout and retrieval. The machine preserves the manoeuvrability and terrain adaptability of the original hand‑supported tractor, while significantly enhancing its winching and traction capabilities.

Double‑Drum Design and Multi‑Speed Operation

The winch features a double‑drum configuration with seven wire‑rope guide grooves on each drum, effectively protecting the rope and preventing overlapping or dislodging during operation. The machine is equipped with four forward speeds (offering a range of traction force and speed combinations) and two reverse speeds, with a simple and intuitive shift layout for rapid field adjustments. Forward gear traction forces range from 12 kN to 60 kN, with corresponding pulling speeds from 11.7 m/min to 55.6 m/min, allowing the operator to select the optimal setting based on load and job requirements.

Durability and Application Environment

The machine features a simple, robust construction and is particularly suited for outdoor power line construction sites. All critical components are reinforced, and the gearbox and braking system are designed to withstand shock loads and continuous duty cycles. Linkai offers a two‑year warranty covering major drivetrain and structural components, ensuring long‑term reliability under demanding field conditions. The Walking Tractor Winch has already been deployed in numerous power construction projects across China, and custom configurations are available upon request to meet specific operational needs.
